Right to vote is restricted in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

(March) General Court passes a law declaring that only approved church members can be admitted as freemen. The law is ignored, however, when towns in New Hampshire and Maine are absorbed as part of the colony in the 1640s and 1650s.
